Amaris Morales-Berrios, 42 of York City, was found dead in the 1100 block of Priority Road around 5 a.m. on Jan. 17, city police explained. Jose Luis Rodriguez Ramos has been arrested on charges in connection with her death, the police said and court records confirmed.

Her family said she had been missing since Saturday, Jan. 13, and was last seen on Priority Road.

Public records show Morales-Berrios shared a home with Rodriguez Ramos located at 1117 Priority Road. The police said, "After further investigation this incident was determined to be a domestic related homicide."

Court records obtained by Daily Voice show that Rodriguez Ramos had been her live-in boyfriend for about four years, but she spoke with her adult children nearly every day and her young two children lived in the home with them.

During an argument, a witness saw Rodriguez Ramos make a slashing movement over his throat, and family members told York City police he had threatened to "slit her throat" many times, as detailed in the affidavit.

She was found wrapped in their bedroom comforter with "trauma to her throat and large amounts of blood," police said in the affidavit.

He has been charged with misdemeanor unauthorized use of a motor vehicle with bail set at $20,000 and felony criminal homicide and denied bail as set by Magisterial District Judge Thomas J. Reilly at 8 a.m. on Jan. 17, according to his court dockets.  His preliminary hearing is set before Magisterial District Judge James H. Morgan at 9 a.m. on Jan. 31.

The offense date listed on the dockets is Jan. 14, so it is believed that is when Morale-Berrios died. Daily Voice has reached out to the court for the criminal complaint and affidavit of probable cause. Check back here for updates we receive.

Daily Voice has also reached out to her family, including her children and sisters to express our condolences.
